McHugh's Courthouse Hotel opened in March
2000. With its central location and close to the River Barrow walkways, town
park, shopping areas, other bars, restaurants and nightclubs, it makes for an ideal
place to stay.
The hotel is located on Dublin Street in Carlow's town centre. It is approx. 1
hour from Dublin and just over an hour from Rosslare. The Hotel is also less
than 10 minutes walk from local train and bus stations. A great base to plan
your weekend or holiday break from. With a total of fifteen bedrooms all en-suite with
bath, each
room has complimentary tea and coffee making facilities with multi channel
television and direct dial telephone. There is also a small conference room
available for business meetings or for that presentation evening. Secure
car parking is also provided directly opposite the hotel in our lock-up
car-park.
Carvery
Lunch is served each
day from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Our Bistro Menu is available from 3pm to 9.30pm Monday to
Sunday. Tea,
coffee, homemade scones, freshly made sandwiches and light snacks are also
available throughout the day
The
Jury Room Restaurant has an attractive a la carte menu, or for larger
parties we have specially designed set menus to suit your needs and price range.
There is also an extensive wine list on offer to compliment your meal.
McHugh's
bar with
its split level seating areas,
polished wall panelling and all round
emphasis on comfort makes it popular
with residents and locals alike. The
bar also boasts a beautiful open fire.
There is a high quality big screen so
you can have the best view of all
major sporting events.
Live
Entertainment is provided every Saturday night with the
best local bands. The nights for music may change from time to time and
additional nights may be added, such as bank holiday weekends and other holiday
periods.
Golf
can be arranged at several courses nearby including
Carlow, Mount Wolseley, Abbeyleix, Kilkea Castle, Tulfarris and Gowran Park. Mount Juliet and The K
Club are both just a 30 minute drive away. We can arrange coach or mini-bus
transfers from Dublin Airport to the hotel, and to and from the above golf
courses.
Fishing
for salmon, brown trout, and sea
trout is very popular on the River Barrow and Slaney. A guided tour of the
magnificent Blackstairs Mountains, many valleys and trails, Norman Castles,
Carlow's many monastic sites, and other hidden gems can also be arranged.
